Davis Mirage 12 XCG Magnesium Umpire Mask + D3O® Shear3 Pads

Not all masks let you see the same game. The Mirage 12 XCG opens your field of vision wider than any mask on the market. Rounded frame geometry positions bars outside your natural sight lines. Flat bar profiles reduce obstruction further. First to third. Every runner. No head movement required.

Injection-molded magnesium makes this possible. A single piece. No welds. Precise geometry that steel, aluminum and titanium frames can't achieve. When you do take a shot, magnesium reduces force transmission better than rigid metals. And unlike steel that bends or aluminum that fails under stress, magnesium holds its geometry. The XCG chin guard is built into the frame. Longer than competing designs. No dangling throat guard to manage.

The Shear3 pad cores in the modular pad system completes the mask. Pad socks provide the structural interface. When mask bars take impact, molded EVA in the sock expands the contact area. Inside the core, the HDPE load distribution plate spreads it further. Then three layers manage deceleration: D3O Aeromax stays flexible until impact, polymer chains lock together instantly, and graduated VPU layers continue the timeline. Each layer hands off force to the next without the spike that occurs when mismatched materials meet.

When fabric wears from seasons of use, replace the socks. Not the cores.

Installation:

1. Insert Shear3 pad cores into pad socks. Ensure core orientation matches markings.
2. Close zippers completely and secure zipper handles.
3. Attach to Mirage 12 frame using hook-and-loop straps. Fasten tightly.
